Local Expertise: I’ve worked with many clients in the Bristol area over the years, from ambitious startups to SaaS providers and established companies. I’m based 30 mins train ride from Bristol, and can easily work at client’s premises or on a hybrid/at home basis – whatever works for you.

Expert skills: I’ve been exposed to many tools over the years – from hand-coding in HTML/CSS, to using Adobe Flash and sketching manual prototypes. More recently, I’ve been exposed to Adobe XD, Sketch and a few other design tools, but Figma is my primary tool and the industry standard. As well as design tools, I use Miro and Figjam as well as more manual routes for UX research work.

Collaborative Approach: Although operating alone, I love working within teams and getting to know businesses, stakeholders and users. UI/UX is a team process, without the diversity of ideas, knowledge and experience, results are diminished. Collaboration is fundamental to success!

Flexibility: In an ideal world, we’d spend months working on a full UX process, testing, validating, and improving on an iterative basis. However, not every client has the budget to invest in this level of implementation, so I work with them, wherever they are with whatever they’ve got to maximise value.

User Research

Getting to know your users is key to the success of your digital products. I enjoy working with users to experience your software through their eyes and making use of these key observations.

I create realistic and design-rich interactive prototypes, giving users and stakeholders a realistic feel of your finished products.

Digital Design

I have experience designing completely bespoke digital products including an interface to allow pilots to control ‘sea drones’, as well as more conventional websites and web based apps, responsively designed for desktop, tablet and mobile.

Branding

I have extensive experience creating brands from scratch, including delivering brand workshops with teams.

Workshops

I run workshops for your team, working collaboratively to analyse research information and observations, turning them into organised clues on how to improve your software.

1. Research

I speak to stakeholders and carry out primary research to get under the lid of the project.

2. Analysis

By using analysis techniques such as affinity diagrams, we can capture the key areas of improvement required for your product.

3. Interaction Design

I design basic interactions to find innovative ways to solve the challenges we have uncovered.

4. Prototyping

This is where we bring the basic wireframes to life, creating high-fidelity working prototypes.

5. Validation

We validate that our solution works with live users through user testing.

6. Delivery

The Figma files and assets are passed onto the development team, ready for deployment.
